What film grade do dye packs use?
It is matched to the temperature of the bath or process water. Low-temperature dye baths use a cold-water grade; hot dye baths use a hot-water grade that dissolves fully without leaving a residue on the goods.
Dyes and pigments are the messiest thing in any workshop and the hardest to dose accurately. A water-soluble sachet solves both at once: the operator drops the sealed pack into the bath and the colour goes in without a cloud of dust or a stained bench.

A water-soluble dye pack holds one measured dose of dye, pigment or powder. The user puts the sealed pack into the dye bath, the washing machine or the process vessel. The film dissolves in the water and releases the dye directly into the liquor.
The benefit is twofold. Dosing becomes accurate and repeatable, because the pack is filled to weight rather than scooped. And handling exposure disappears — no dust cloud when the powder is poured, no residue on the work surface, no contaminated packaging to dispose of.
| Specification | What we supply |
|---|---|
| Film grade | Matched to the temperature of the bath or process water |
| Format | Sachets and bags made to your dose weight and dimensions |
| Film thickness | Set against dose weight and how the pack is handled |
| Plain, or printed with product code, shade reference and branding | |
| Opacity | Clear film where the contents should be visible, or opaque where light exposure matters |
| Outer packing | Cartons or retail packs under your brand |
Anyone can fill a sachet. The value is in the accuracy and the repeatability. A shade that has to match a reference has to be dosed to the same weight every time, and a sachet filled to a defined weight removes the variable that spoons and scoops introduce.
Film choice then follows the process: the film has to dissolve fully at the bath temperature, without leaving a residue that could mark the goods, and without softening or fusing during storage before use.
Send the dose weight, powder type and bath conditions. We reply within one business day with a film recommendation and a sample plan. You test the samples in your own bath. Bulk production starts only when the pack performs as agreed.

The questions buyers ask most about this application.

Yes. Packs can be printed with product codes, shade references and branding, or supplied plain. Print requirements should be settled early because they affect the pack dimensions.
The film is selected to dissolve completely at your bath temperature, which is what prevents residue. This is confirmed during sampling using your dye in your bath rather than on a bench test.
Yes. Clear film can be used where the operator should see the contents, or an opaque film where light exposure is a concern for the dye.
It depends on the pack size, the film grade and any printing. Send your target quantity with the enquiry and we confirm the exact minimum, unit price and lead time in the written quote.
